Education:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Comparable experience required, with a strong emphasis on proven writing skills and experience in communications.
- Accredited public relations credentials are preferred but not required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Crafts and writes compelling stories to highlight the excellence of Stephens County Schools, showcasing student and staff achievements through engaging narratives.
- Coordinates all aspects of Communications for the District, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
- Creates and maintains the district's website and social media accounts, leveraging excellent writing skills to promote system-wide accomplishments.
- Must be on call and available to assist with crisis management, responding promptly to urgent communication needs.
- Demonstrates flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed, supporting and attending district and school events (e.g., performances, games, and community gatherings).
- Provides support and professional learning for maintaining communications through social media accounts and websites for local schools.
- Guides and coordinates all community outreach efforts for the district.
- Participates in community events and develops partnerships with individuals and organizations within Stephens County.
- Manages the partner in education program for the district.
- Plans and coordinates system and school events as directed, ensuring seamless execution.
- Coordinates with district administrators and staff to promote school and district events, utilizing strong writing expertise to create impactful promotional materials.
- Provides logistical support for district events and activities.
- Organizes and facilitates district recognition programs for students and staff, showcasing excellence through creative storytelling.
- Serves as the district's primary media contact, coordinating and providing appropriate responses to media requests with professionalism and clarity.
- Promotes system and school communication, accolades, and accomplishments via social media, print media, radio, television, and the district website.
- Produces and distributes news releases and media alerts, relying on exceptional writing skills to craft clear and engaging content.
- Coordinates and supports school-based communications.
- Manages school status and other technologies to ensure consistent communication between schools and parents.
- Coordinates the appearance (e.g., branding) of all SCSS print and electronic materials.
- Provides oversight of district publications to ensure consistency of messaging, quality of product, and articulation of the desired image to all stakeholders.
- Provides public relations guidance and support to the district's administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the district's mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellent writing skills and experience in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Ability to craft stories that effectively highlight the excellence of Stephens County Schools.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule to support district and school events.
- Ability to shift quickly between tasks and take on last-minute responsibilities with adaptability and efficiency.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage community outreach and media relations.
- Ability to be on call to respond to urgent communication needs.
