Job Type: Part-Time (Afterschool & Summer Hours)
Reports To: Art Program Manager
Schedule: Monday evenings, 4:00–7:30 PM (June–July 2026)
Compensation: $18–$20/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced Art Instructor to join our team. This role focuses on fostering an appreciation of art while teaching techniques across various media to students ages 4–13.
The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment that encourages self-expression, creativity, and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development: Plan and implement structured, age-appropriate art lessons that encourage creativity and skill-building
Instruction: Teach techniques across multiple media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, and mixed media
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized studio environment
Student Engagement: Adapt projects and instruction to meet varying attention spans and learning needs
Mentorship: Encourage creativity and support the unique development of each student
Collaboration: Participate in staff meetings and training as needed
Qualifications
Required:
Experience teaching art in an academic or community setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage a classroom and maintain organization
Preferred:
Associate’s degree (or higher) in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field
Experience with digital tools and classroom technology (e.g., projectors)
Knowledge of art history and contemporary practices
Experience working with students of varying abilities, including those with disabilities or special needs
Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift 25–40 lbs (supplies and equipment)
