Job Summary

The Engineering & Planning team is looking for a GIS Intern!

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for scanning documents and entering data from those documents into GIS and other business systems such as AquaDIS, Vault, and SAP.
• Use GIS, SAP, Excel and other business systems to update and create records of water utility assets. 
• Create features and assign attributes to that feature in GIS system.
• Collect and organize geospatial data to develop new feature classes. 
• Find and add missing GIS attribute information.
• Develop and perform GIS queries in response to requests.
• Responsible for updating, maintaining, and improving quality of GIS data.

Preferred Requirements

• Working knowledge and experience using ESRI GIS software.
• Ability to use scanning equipment.
• Ability to learn about water related infrastructure and records. 
• Ability to learn new business systems.
• Experience using Excel and Word.
• Ability to learn other computer programs

Education/Certifications

• Undergraduate student seeking a degree in computer science, geography, GIS, engineering, or relevant fields.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and financial software applications. 
• Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Driven and enthusiasm for work.

Salary

• The internship will run from mid-May through end of August, 40 hours a week (on-site). 
• Intern will report to our Bridgeport office.
• Hours will be 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
• This position will pay $19.50 an hour.
