Job Description

Position Summary 

The Facilities/Housekeeping Assistant maintains and protects our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. In this role it is important to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a housekeeping role focused on building cleanliness and upkeep. A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative.

Essential Functions

• Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces.

• Sweep and mop floors and clean carpets.

• Wash and sanitize toilets and sinks and restock disposables (e.g., soap and paper towels).

• Wipe mirrors and windows.

• Maintain outer premises by washing windows, picking up garbage, and cleaning entrances.

• Report any major or minor damages to Facilities Manager.

• Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (e.g., shoveling snow from the sidewalk, occasionally lifting heavy items, and moving chairs).

• Assisting in the daily upkeep of laundry utilizing commercial size washers and dryers.

• Utilize a floor auto-scrubber to clean and sanitize the hospital floors.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma is preferred but not required.

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor, maintenance assistant or in a similar role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.

• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.

• Familiarity with basic landscaping practices.

• Attention to detail and conscientiousness.

• Very good physical condition and strength.

Hours: Full-Time and Part-Time 

• Our hospital is open year-round 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. 

• Hours will be for evening time (1 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.) and training will occur during day time hours.

• We are looking to fill a full-time shift.
