The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care supervision of the clients in the treatment center, overseeing the day-to-day operations and working closely with the administrators, clinical and medical staff to support behaviors consistent with the client's treatment plans. The BHT assists the clinical team in monitoring and admitting clients into the agency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The BHT, will ensure they adhere to facility protocols and provide appropriate care for residents.
  • Provide direct support to residents, including monitoring behavior, ensuring safety, assisting with daily activities, and implementing therapeutic interventions in accordance with individualized treatment plans.
  • Observe residents' progress and document significant behavioral or emotional changes.
  • Work closely with Seven Arrows Recovery Staff to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
  • Assist in any behavioral or emotional crises, ensuring that residents receive appropriate care and that safety is maintained at all times and communicate accordingly with all BHTs and other staff.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including progress notes, incident reports, and shift summaries. Maintain up-to-date records of residents' behavioral changes and treatment progress in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and therapeutic environment that fosters the well-being and recovery of all residents. Encourage teamwork and maintain a respectful, compassionate atmosphere in the facility.
  • Communicate regularly and as needed with the Program Director.
  • Additional duties as needed

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, and spreadsheet software.

Education/Experience:

1+ years of experience in face-to-face client-based interaction work

Must be 21 years of age or older

A heightened sensitivity and compassion when working with our clients

Ability to provide judgment-free care to all

Ability to practice good judgment and effective problem-solving skills

Effective communicator and solution-focused team leader

Ability to maintain a positive and professional disposition

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Certificates and Licenses:

● Current CPR and First Aid certificate

● Current TB test

● Valid driver's license

● Fingerprint Clearance Card

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision.
